Branch Update: There will not be a meeting for January or February (unless someone wants to plan one). We hope to get back on track in March with a new Branch Chair in place. More details to come. Thank you. Jennifer Gilbert

Over the past year, the Ontario board has been working through the process of dissolving PPO. Unfortunately, this process has not seen fruition yet which means we have a limited amount of time to call an AGM with elections to ensure we are following our bylaws.

It appears that at the last call for elections, volunteers were scarce. Now is the time to step up and have a voice for your organization. The following Regional Board positions are open, and are one year terms which will commence on March 1, 2018, except where noted:

  • PPOC ON Chair
  • Vice Chair
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Up to 3 Directors at Large
  • PPOC ON National Director (2 year term, to commence July 1, 2018)

Although it can sometimes be a challenge, volunteering can also be very rewarding experience. If you have questions about the responsibilities of any of the above noted positions, please feel free to contact our PPOC ON National Director, Tina Weltz, at ondirector@ppoc.ca

Nominations will remain open until midnight, January 19th. If you wish to put your name forward, please email Tina directly, indicating which of the positions for which you wish to run. In the event there are multiple members interested in taking on the same position, an election will be held electronically, at which time you may be asked to provide a brief bio and headshot for inclusion on the election ballot.

Take some time to reflect and to see how you want your PPOC to grow and how you can be part of that process.

The mandate of the Professional Photographers of Ontario is to provide an educational, business, and creative environment for professional photographers, while promoting the highest standards of personal and creative excellence within the craft. The Association seeks to safeguard and promote the interests of the membership and to promote and maintain a code of conduct and a code of ethics with which its members are expected to comply.

Photography has many rewards but also many challenges. One of the best ways to navigate these challenges is to align yourself with those who have been in the business for a while and can give you direction. A good source to making these kinds of connections is the Professional Photographers of Canada and affiliates thereof. The Central Branch of the PPO is one such avenue.

You may have noticed that our URL now resolves to "centralbranch.ca" - just a little shorter to type.

I know a lot of you never visit this site, rather relying on Facebook for all your information - that is a mistake! We have lots of good stuff here for you to take in, and as I mentioned above, let me know what is missing, or send me material to add.
